~ Someone Elses Trash to my Son's Treasure (Box) ~

Doesn't this look just lovely!!?? Would you put your son's toys in this and let him play in it??

Probably not - I wouldn't either - perfectionist, neat-nick that I am!

Smelling of tools and dirty stuff stored for years........ Phew! But I wanted a place to hide his toys, so I wouldn't have to see them all the time since they were just in a basket. So when I stumbled across this at GW for only $6.50 - I said "unhuh!" With a little bit of paint, paintbrush and imagination -

My son's clean, neat, new treasure chest!

Stored behind the couch for a little play area.....
Take a look at all those toys that I can hide now!
He even climbed right in. =)
*Sigh* Perfect solution. End of unsightliness.

Joining in on Monday at Between Naps on the Porch, Southern Hospitality and Twice Remembered, on Tuesday Trash to Treasure and on Thursday, A Soft Place to Land and The Shabby Chic Cottage!

HI Rebecca! Oh, who could have known that old trunk could have looked this cute? Love how you painted the hardware and corners a different color and the scripture inside is wonderful. Seems like your little one likes it! Great job.

Hello from Kansas!
This is really neat what you've done to this trunk by refreshing it with a change of color.

May you have a blessed life,

Yknow what's a shame? When I go "curbside shopping" in my town (each week), I always see AT LEAST one or two old metal trunks like this, in the trash!! I have no place for them in my house. And I can't always pick 'em up and bring them to the thrift store. Sigh. I cant believe people are just throwing them away! :(

If everyone saw what you can do with one, like you did, they wouldn't throw them out now would they?

I bet your son's happy!!

That must've been a lot of work to paint around all those hinges and trim, but it looks great. I love the verse inside. What a great reminder that in the end, it's all just stuff.

I love old suitcases for storing items too.

I can not get to my followers-google has it down. Are you signed up as your first name or your blog name-just so I can confirm once they have it back up again.

I had a storage chest like that when I was in college. I won't tell you how long ago that was. Love the makeover.

Very cute! We did the trunk thing once, but I was too scared of the lid falling and hurting the littles.

I have a room a month linky party going, check it out: http://theshadesofpink.blogspot.com/2009/09/room-month-is-back.html

I thought about the lid thing - and went to Lowes to see about one of those hinges that go on the side.... but the screws to put it in were HUGE! They would have come out of the OUTside of the box about an INCH! So I thought I'd try it this way for a little while.... my little guy has done fine with it so far. Doesn't seem to be interested in playing with the lid (yet!).

Thanks for all the comments!!!! I love to hear from each one!
